My First ASAE Annual

As a first time attendee at ASAE’s annual conference this year, I was glowing with anticipation to get there and take it all in. I’ve been to many ASAE events in the past, but never to their annual conference. I’m one of those guys “on the circuit”, meaning I attend a lot of events and conferences. I’m told I have a gift for managing to stay focused while taking in all the event has to offer and always remembering to represent my company and my clients, which is fortunate for me because I enjoy it.

I was blown away by #ASAE12!  It was my first “Annual” and it’s hard to believe that they will be able to top this year’s conference moving forward. From the opening night in Cowboys Stadium to the line-up of amazing speakers and especially the way the attendees were so engaged in the conference – both IRL and on the Web, it was so exhilarating to be a part of it all.

At the conference I was impressed by the diversity of roles of the industry professionals who attended. There were association executives, as you would expect, but also many department leaders and directors, all there trying to figure out association-world trends, from education to technology and beyond. Avectra has one of the strongest API’s on the market (in my humble opinion) so it’s exciting to have other vendors that may provide added value to our clients approach us at our booth and at evening networking events, to discuss how we may be able to work together. We also had a TON of clients there who stopped by to say “Hi”. The opportunity to put a face with a name, and continuing and refreshing those relationships with our clients and partner companies is priceless.

BUT, my favorite part of ASAE had to be the opening night at the Cowboys Stadium. As a die-hard Cowboys fan, I never dreamed I’d have unrestricted access to “Jerry-Land” quite like that. What a cool experience, and best of all, I got to take it all in with my clients and colleagues right there to share in the experience with me. I wore my Demarcus Ware #94 jersey with pride, and even got my picture taken in front of his locker! My interview with a reporter was later played on the Jumbotron and of course I had to have my photo taken with the amazingly talented Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders (yeah, they were very nice). A once in a lifetime opportunity (thanks ASAE)!

I plan to attend next year’s annual conference in Atlanta and will not hesitate to jump at the opportunity to represent Avectra at any ASAE event. These events provide extraordinary value to association staff and vendors alike. ASAE is an amazing organization and deliver a flawless event experience. I look forward to planning our Avectra reception for next year’s event. I don’t know if it will be able to beat this year’s which was held at Reunion Tower (best view of the city), but our clients deserve a “thank you” at every event we attend, and I love being a part of that.

-Until Next year!

Ben works at Avectra as a major accounts manager and is an “enthusiastic” Dallas Cowboys Fan (major understatement alert). Ben is equally enthusiastic about serving Avectra’s client’s needs and exceeding their expectations so, as you can imagine, an opportunity to represent Avectra at the ASAE Annual Conference in the Big D, was a dream come true.
